Dear TESOL Greece Members,
And yes, the new academic year is right here, and our lives and minds start returning to the rhythm of our work environment. And as you channel your energy in preparation for what would best benefit your classes, we would like to welcome you to yet another year of professional development. Our journal will help you look back at some of the past events and give you a glimpse of the ones scheduled for the future.
The overview of the TESOL Greece Kalamata event will give you a glimpse of Konstantina Konstantopoulos’s presentation. Dora Sopasoudaki’s insightful article focuses on shaping the future lives of students with class activities and projects. Kamola Mansurovna’s contribution is on how to reduce Teacher Talking Time. Do not leave out Ioanna Pechlivani’s contribution on Kindling Students’ Minds, Alexandra Lygda’s article on the right approach to turn Dyslexia struggle into strength and last but not least, Sandy Topalidou’s points coming right from experience.
September gives us a lead to the wonderful events which will follow. On September 27th, we kick off with the Start of the Year, Big SIG Day event, dedicated to our Special Interest groups. Under the umbrella title SIGnificant Teacher Growth, six special interest groups will provide you with food for thought and ideas to try out in your classrooms.
In the Adult Learners SIG, Sylvia Karastathi will talk on the economy of attention and on how to facilitate the development of visual and critical literacy skills. In the Learning Technologies SIG, Maria Philippi will get us on the road to collective Intelligence with AI and peer-to peer learning. For the Special Learning Difficulties SIG, we will have Goudi Panagiota and for the Young Learners SIG, Papalazarou Chrysa will focus on Art representation and student voice in primary classes. For the Literature and Drama SIG we will have Christina Prentza showcase action and Drama games for graded readers. For the Teacher Development and Research SIG, Katerina Mantadaki will focus on resilient teachers and flourishing schools.
October 25th will find us at Chalkida with Evi Karydi. The Christmas event will follow on November 29th at the British Council for energy and festive holiday spirit and later on the Pitta Cutting event, we will celebrate the beginning of 2027. On the 6th & 7th March 2027, we will hold our 48th Convention entitled “Teach, Reach, Transform” where professionals from our country and abroad will share their expertise with us.
On a closing note, we suggest that you keep reading, that you contribute to our journal with articles and that you keep updated about what is happening in the world of TESOL Greece, by visiting our website.
