Dear TESOL Greece members,

As you prepare for the festive season 2022 we are very happy to provide you some TESOL Greece news and content to read when you finally get finished with all your end-of-term commitments. Journal issue #156, as well as all the past issues, can also be accessed through the members’ area of our website

We have a bumper issue this time, with reports on the various TESOL Greece activities that have taken place since September: our BIG SIG Day at the start of the academic year, and our joint event in October with ETAL and TESOL Macedonia-Thrace.

We have interviews with Russell Stannard and Nayr Ibrahim, which give us a taster of the plenary talks that they will deliver at our 44th convention in March 2023. And we have some really great articles on focussing on emancipation in teacher development and through the use of formative assessment. The topic of mindfulness and positive psychology in our ELT environment is followed by an article on how an awareness of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) can enrich our classrooms. We end with a tribute to the 100th anniversary of BBC radio and the role it has played in Greece and in ELT.

However, on a terribly sad note, just before publication of this issue, we learned of the loss of our beloved member, Eleni Kampadaki. Her sudden death has devastated our TESOL Greece family, and in this issue we include tributes to her wonderful life.

The journal is distributed freely as a part of your TESOL Greece membership and is a vital way to keep up to date on trends, issues, projects, and helpful ideas from colleagues both here in Greece and further afield. Do keep sending in your ideas and experiences. For more information about sending an article, please see the article submission guidelines in the journal, and send your copy for review to  journal.tesolgreece@gmail.com
