The rapid emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping language education, offering new possibilities for building bridges between technology, pedagogy, and collaboration (England et al, 2023). This presentation explores how AI tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly can be integrated into English language teaching (ELT) to foster cooperation, creativity, and critical engagement in both academic and professional contexts.
Drawing on classroom experiences from Saudi Arabia, including PHL 101 (AI & Society) and ENG 201 (Technical Report Writing), the session demonstrates how AI-supported tasks can encourage peer collaboration, ethical reflection, and cooperative learning across diverse student populations. These examples highlight not only the opportunities AI presents for learner engagement but also the challenges related to assessment, plagiarism, and digital literacy. The session concludes by offering practical strategies for language teachers and teacher associations to integrate AI responsibly, bridging the gap between innovation and pedagogy.
