Dear TESOL Greece members/41st TG convention attendees,
As you may have been informed, Deree-the American College of Greece was closed down 10 & 11 March, 2020, in order to be disinfected, as there was a case which was found positive to the corona virus.
The TESOL Greece Board contacted the ACG administration immediately and asked to be sent accurate information. Below is their written response, which we received later in the evening, signed by Ms Claudia Carydis Benopoulou, Vice President, Public Affairs:
“ One Deree undergraduate student was found positive to the corona virus. This student was NOT present at the TESOL event and none of the Deree professors or students that were present, have this student in their classes. Having as its priority the wellbeing of its students, faculty, staff and guests, ACG has been all along monitoring the corona virus situation and has been taking all necessary precautions, always following the guidelines of the relevant public authorities. One of those was the disinfection of all venues used, at the end of your event, something we did.”
ACG responded to our request for information as soon as this was possible. I first received a telephone call by Ms Areti Krepapa, Dean of the School of Graduate & Professional Education, and then the above written statement.
I wish you all the best,
On behalf of the TESOL Greece Board,
Lilika Couri,
TESOL Greece Chair, 2020-2021
