TESOL Greece Members and Honoured Guests\, On behalf of the TESOL Greece Board\, I have the pleasure to welcome you to the FIRST Virtual TESOL Greece Annual International Convention. We are delighted you are with us online to celebrate life\, resilience\, discovery and innovation throughout a year of unprecedented changes which have shaped our present and our future. Our personal and professional experiences have emphasized the need for collaboration\, sharing and inclusion. How fitting then that the theme of the Convention highlights “Human Rights in Education\, Literature and Art“. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Our four renowned plenary speakers\, Professor. Bessie Dendrinos\, Hania Bociek\, Judy Boyle and Jo Gakonga\, as well as the fifty presenters\, are bringing forth the most crucial aspects of the meaning as well as the need for advocacy\, equity and inclusion in all forms of education\, human expression and the arts. This weekend\, we will not have the opportunity to share each other’s in-person company\, to have a stroll round the Exhibit\, to dance and laugh and make new friendships as well as renew those that have lasted for 42 years. We WILL have the opportunity\, however\, to smile at each other through the screen\, to listen\, to enjoy and to create our special and unique TESOL Greece ‘bonding’ virtually. Let’s create our new TG reality and own it. As a Board and Organizing Committee\, believe me\, we will do the impossible\, managing five Zoom accounts and making sure everything works perfectly. We are dealing with technology\, however\, so let’s be prepared to face the unexpected and to be supportive. We would like to thank our plenary speakers\, all of the presenters\, our loyal sponsors and the publishers & exhibitors. We are all looking forward to and greatly appreciate the generous offers and performances of “Teacher’s Yoga” with Natasha Mouzakitis\, Aggeliki Toubanaki “Crossovers” with the vocalist\, Aggeliki Toubanaki\, the Zumba Session with ‘our’ vivacious\, Evelina Agathopoulou and the original happening of The English Language Voice Theatre in “Lessons in Humanity: a Performance of Poetry on Language\, Teaching and Learning” with Dr. Luke Prodromou and fellow colleagues. As a Chair\, I would like to thank all the members of the Board for their support\, their trust and willingness to ‘re-invent’ the present and ‘invest in’ the future. I am grateful to the volunteer Zoom Admins: Suzanne Antonaros\, Ioanna Georgakopoulou\, Valia Gkotsi\, Georgios Kormpas\, Anna Petala and Anna Zacharatou\, to Susan Stetson-Tiligadas\, Vice Chair & Journal Editor and her team\, to Stella Senetaki\, Publicity Officer\, to our Executive Secretary\, Antigone Konstanti and most especially and deeply grateful to Georgios Chatzis\, TG Webmaster\, without whose extremely hard work\, unending support and expertise this whole year of TESOL Greece’s successful virtual presence would not have been possible. Best wishes to all our members. We are looking forward to ‘seeing’ you all throughout this extraordinary weekend. In my talk\, I will start out with an introduction to the concept of “linguistic human rights”\, continue with a brief review of policies and practices linked to linguistic justice and injustice\, in society at large and in its institutions – particularly education. Continuing with how foreign language learning and English Medium Instruction in different parts of the world  fits into the discussion.
