“Be Creative and Inspire”
One of the main roles of a language teacher is to implement their theoretical background and differentiated styles of teaching to many different types of learners. TESOL Greece would like to create a forum in which all presenters can share inspiration and discuss specific approaches to language teaching. The 39th TESOL Greece Convention presenters are encouraged to share ideas, which have succeeded in realizing specific learning objectives in a variety of ELT environments. Ideas for language learning activities supported by research findings, would be of interest to our membership/ convention attendees.
Please note also that a professional presentation should not be used to promote a book, publisher, author, course or examination. TESOL Greece Members are particularly sensitive to the distinction between commercial and professional presentations.
What topics are encouraged?
The focus of the 39th TESOL Greece Convention is on Creativity. We welcome proposals and ideas that promote creativity in the classroom in a variety of areas of language teaching, ranging from primary and young learners to adult learners, from general English to EAP and ESP. More specifically, we encourage topics that deal with catering to learners’ individual needs, exploring alternative approaches to ELT, increasing learner and teacher motivation, fostering teacher and learner autonomy, creating a supportive learning environment and implementing effective teaching practices.
Types of proposals
Workshop (45 minutes)
A Practice-Oriented presentation, which shows, rather than tells. The presenter helps participants
solve a problem or develop a specific technique through a series of structured hands-on activities.
Talk (45 minutes)
A formal instructive talk given by (a) subject specialist(s).
A self-explanatory exhibit that allows participants to engage in informal discussion with the presenter(s). It is based on the creative combination of text, graphics and visuals.
Responsibilities of presenters
• All presenters should refrain from changing the content of their session once it has been approved.
• Provide handouts for the anticipated number of attendees.
• No presenter can refuse attendance to any TESOL member.
