TESOL Greece Pitta Cutting Event
This year's TESOL Greece Pitta Cutting Event took place on January 14th, at the premises of New York College. Our members were welcomed by our Vice Chair, Georgios Chatzis, and Ms. Alexandra Kaoni, on behalf of New York College, who kindly hosted the event.
The presentation under the event’s theme “New Year: Join Us and Cheer!” was given by Ms. Mirsini-Anastasia Kankel, a Master Practitioner and trainer of NLP, and was called 'Rock your New Year’s Resolutions and Resilience.' Ms. Kankel spoke about how teachers and their students should deal with overcoming the subconscious mind's conflicts, which cause them to procrastinate and fall short of doing and getting what they plan.
Our members were then invited to set a personal goal. Next, they had to apply the steps of a particular technique, previously explained and designed to achieve desired results, within a specific timeframe and suited to each individual. The presentation left us feeling motivated enough, to deal with resolutions and goals that we have had for ages, and have not yet been able to attain.
The traditional Pitta Cutting followed, whereby Marina Katseli was the lucky recipient of the coin of the board's Pitta, and Thanasis Papadakis, winner of the second coin, will have the opportunity to attend teacher development and training seminars -courtesy of ETC. Ifigenia Sarros won the third coin for a post-graduate degree, kindly offered by New York College and Kalliopi Magoula was the runner up.
A perfect start to the New Year, with special thanks to our sponsors: Burlington books, ETC and New York College. The events planned for the rest of the year and our Annual International Convention “Keeping it Practical!” on March 18th and 19th, which features well known plenary speakers, are certainly not to be missed as they always offer wonderful learning opportunities and a chance to have great discussions with enthusiastic, like-minded people. See you all on February 12th, at HAEF – Psychico College with our next event “Responding to Challenges in the Language Classroom”!
