TESOL International is organizing a unique event on February 9 – 10, 2017 in Athens, Greece with the support of TESOL Greece! "The Summit on the Future of the TESOL Profession" (www.tesolsummit.org).
This is a distinctive event in two ways!
Firstly, the discussions for the Summit will start December 1st, 2016, continue at the Summit, and after almost one and a half years, a comprehensive vision to guide policy, practice, and research will be released at the 2018 TESOL International Convention & English Language Expo, 27–30 March 2018 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
The second reason that this Summit is different, is that it will physically take place in Athens, Greece at the Royal Olympic Hotel, but it will be broadcasted live all over the world. What makes it even greater is that the online attendance is absolutely free (you can register here) .
The themes that are going to be discussed are: Futurology, English in Multilingualism, Reimagining English Competence, and the Profession as a Change Agent. The Guiding Principles of the Summit will be Inquiry, Equity, and Professionalism.
Renowned speakers from all over the world have been invited to be featured speakers. A great deal of international partners and sponsors have been involved at the preparation of the Summit. TESOL Greece, has gladly volunteered to assist TESOL International by proving essential information, as well as, its most valuable asset, its volunteers. Approximately 30 volunteers will be needed for the roles of assisting at the registration, assisting Featured Speakers, and Note Takers. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill in the form (Application Form will open early December). We hope that, as the TESOL International President for 2016 – 2017, Dudley Reynolds says, to see you either in person or virtually.
